Classroom Instructors: Daytime

Our daytime classroom instructors deliver thousands of open enrollment and contract daytime classroom classes each year. Highly respected for their instructional abilities and subject matter expertise, our instructors are also known for their emphasis on providing current and job-related information and skills to the public sector professionals.

Qualifications

Graduate School USA daytime classroom instructors have professional experience in a relevant field and are also practiced at applying their subject matter knowledge to practical situations. Instructors for daytime classroom courses must have dynamic presentation skills and recent professional experience related to the subject matter covered by the course being taught. To teach most of our daytime classroom courses, instructors must have hands-on federal experience in the subject of the course.

Classroom Instructors: Evening and Weekend Programs

Our Evening and Weekend Programs provide continuing education in Washington, DC to individuals pursuing personal or professional interests. Over 300 different courses are offered annually, including beginning, intermediate, and advanced level courses in a dozen foreign languages. With a few exceptions, the courses are offered in the evenings and weekends on a term basis (Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer) over a 5-week or 10-week period.

Qualifications

Evening and Weekend Programs adjunct faculty teaching non-credit/continuing education courses will generally be required to hold the following credentials:

  • A minimum of master’s degree in the teaching discipline or a master’s degree with concentration (minimum of 18 credit hours) in the teaching discipline or a closely related field plus the level and extent of teaching experience determined by the Dean.x
  • A minimum of an associate degree for instructors teaching courses in certificate programs. Faculty teaching courses that are not part of a certificate program (e.g., personal enrichment courses) and for which no formal program of study is generally available must meet the requirements defined by the Department Dean or Program Director and must provide evidence that they have mastered the skills and abilities required to teach the course.
  • For some disciplines, especially technical and applied areas, instructors with less than a master’s degree may be considered for instruction (e.g., a bachelor’s degree in the teaching discipline, licensure or other appropriate demonstration of competency) plus the level and extent of professional experience determined by the Department Dean.

International Programs

Graduate School USA’s International Institute is recruiting in the following areas:

Exchanges: The International Institute is expanding its portfolio of inbound and outbound exchange programs for U.S. federal agencies and foreign governments and seeks candidates with experience managing all aspects of an exchange program.

Trainers/Subject Matter Experts: The International Institute is seeking trainers/subject matter experts who have experience designing and delivering training programs. Graduate School USA is seeking experts in the following fields: public financial management, performance auditing, energy, transportation, leadership, project management, and information technology.

Instructional Designers: The International Institute seeks instructional designers who can assist with customizing materials for training or certificate programs, including working directly with foreign institutions as well as developing multi-modal courses (for example, distance learning combined with classroom training).

Proposal Development: The International Institute seeks skilled proposal development experts with experience writing technical pieces for exchange, capacity building, governance, health programs, and Graduate School USA curriculum areas. The Institute also seeks proposal managers to assist with coordinating the proposal process.

Qualifications
For each of the list areas, prospective candidates should meet these minimum qualifications:

  • Experience living, working, or studying outside the U.S. for at least 6 months
  • Knowledge of a second language
  • At least four years of professional experience
  • U.S. citizenship or valid U.S. residency/work permit
  • Knowledge of Mandarin or Arabic a plus
