Hydrology II
(GS Classic)

(Course Available After Purchase)$395

Overview:
Gain some exposure to hydrologic applications, through studying topics such as hydrographs, unit hydrographs, river routing, reservoir routing, groundwater hydrology, urban hydrology, hydrologic simulation, streamflow synthesis, and the use of hydrology in engineering design. This course has been approved by the American Meteorological Society for satisfying their core requirements. Part of the Meteorology Certificate Program.

This course is being restructured to better align with the Academic Programs Division of Graduate School USA. Please check our website for updates to course information.

Enroll anytime in this paper-based course. Textbooks must be purchased separately. Instructor-based study. Self-paced; take up to one year to complete.

Who Should Attend?
People who are interested in water control structure design work, such as the measurement and interpretation of stream flow.
Prerequisites:
Hydrology I (ENGN5501C) or the equivalent; calculus and chemistry are desirable.
Learning Outcomes:
  • Use hydrologic data to forecast stream flow and stage hydrographs, to route hydrographs to points downstream, and to estimate parameters (needed in water control structure design works), such as flood and drought frequencies.
  • Perform digital simulations, hydraulic routing, stochastics, and water chemistry.
  • Outline:
    LESSONS 1 and 2: Hydrographs
    LESSONS 3 and 4: Routing
LESSONS 5 and 6: Groundwater Hydrology
LESSONS 7 and 8: Urban Hydrology
    LESSON 9: Review of Lessons 1 -8
LESSONS 10, 11 and 12: Hydrologic Simulation and Streamflow Synthesis
LESSONS 13 and 14: Hydrology in Design
    LESSON 15: Review of Lessons 10 - 14
