Day One of Three:

  • Introduction
    • Overview the acquisition process
    • Learn federal acquisition process terminology
    • List the goals of the acquisition process
    • Explain the sources of contracting power and authority
    • Describe the structure of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and its key supplements
    • Learn the elements of the contractual relationship
    • Discuss issues in procurement integrity

Day Two of Three:

  • Initial Phases of the Acquisition Process
    • Learn how to identify potential contractors
    • Explain when to use sealed bidding versus negotiation procedures
    • Describe key differences in various contract types and the circumstances that suggest their use
    • Evaluate a technical proposal
    • Conduct actual negotiations
    • Identify the contractor to receive contract award

Day Three of Three:

  • After the Contract Award
    • Explain the importance of the post award orientation
    • Learn different ways of changing contract performance
    • Describe the steps for ensuring quality contractor performance
    • Evaluate and resolve performance problems
    • Describe the steps in the contract payment and closeout processes
