Posted on Jun 01, 2017
Between June 12th and June 30th, Graduate School USA’s International Institute will administer an International Visitor Leadership Program project titled “American Libraries.”
The 6 participants from Kazakhstan include directors of national and university libraries that host the Department of State’s American Corners program in Kazakhstan.
The project begins in Washington, DC where visitors will get an overview of the U.S. library system through visits to the Library of Congress, National Archives and Records Administration, as well as the Institute of Museum and Library Studies.
The participants will also travel to Kalamazoo, Cleveland, Boston, New York, and Chicago to attend the annual American Library Association conference. Topics to be examined in these cities include community outreach programs, libraries serving special populations, and technological and MakerSpace initiatives that serve as gyms for the brain.
These interactive experiences will encourage mutual sharing of information with their American counterparts who are similarly passionate about the library world.
