The Center for Academic Programs and Distance Education is designed for the student who has new career goals in mind, or wants to excel and advance in their current occupation.
One of several divisions that comprise the Center is the Evening and Weekend Programs, referred to as the Community College of the Graduate School, since it is the original program created at the School’s inception in 1921. The first classes were held after working hours on October 17, with 176 students enrolled in science, economics, and statistics courses. The purpose of the program then is the same today – to provide high-quality, convenient, and low-cost instruction to anyone with a desire to improve their knowledge or skills to remain current in their respective field or to enter a new one.
Evening & Weekend Programs offers core education courses to anyone at a reasonable cost through a stellar faculty and classroom experience. The Certificate programs that are offered through the Evening Programs have been part of the programs’ portfolio for more than 50 years. Evening Programs offers college credit courses to help students attain new personal goals, move forward in a career, investigate an interest in a non-threatening environment, which may lead them to pursue a degree.
The Distance Education division of the Center offers correspondence study instruction by mail, e-mail, fax, or online through the Internet. This program started at the school in the late 1939s. The advantages of completing courses in the program through this modality are that you can enroll at any time, study in the comfort of your home, and set your own pace. You work on an individual basis with faculty members who have designed the instructional material and respond to the assignments you submit. It is a convenient, relatively inexpensive and a highly personalized way to take courses toward a degree program.
The Center for Academic Programs and Distance Education is proud to announce the new Associate of Applied Science degree in Accounting. For detailed course information, click here.
