## Overview

### Learn Advanced Tableau Skills
 

In this class, you’ll master advanced data manipulation techniques and design custom charts. Guided by an expert instructor, you’ll create actions that let you seamlessly control and interact with your visualizations across sheets and dashboards.

 
### Create Maps with Geographic Data
 

Using Tableau Public, you’ll learn to transform geographic data into a variety of map types. Discover how to format data for mapping, customize map layers, and select the most effective map style for presenting your specific data.

## What you'll learn

- Format geographic data and build a variety of interactive map types, including heat maps, spider maps, and choropleth maps
- Integrate custom visuals using background images, polygon data, and Mapbox maps for enhanced design and functionality
- Create advanced charts such as dual-axis (layered) maps, alluvial diagrams, ranking visuals, and circular area charts
- Add interactivity to dashboards through sheet swapping, filtering actions, and dynamic content controls
- Track and display time-based data trends spatially using map animations and proportional symbols
- Prepare and publish high-quality map visualizations for presentation, sharing, and Tableau Online distribution

## Prerequisites

Students must have Tableau proficiency equivalent to our [Tableau Level I course](/courses/tableau-training), including creating basic visualizations, calculations, and dashboards.

- Cyclical data and circular area chart
- Dual Axis Charts
- Dual Axis (Layered) Maps
- Alluvial Diagram

- Sheet swapping and dynamic dashboards
