## Overview

This self-paced course examines the design principles behind an effective website and applies them to AI-assisted design work. Participants study visual hierarchy, typography, color, spacing, layout, and consistency, then use that vocabulary to direct Claude Design toward a specific intended result rather than a generic one.

The course follows a single project from concept to tested site. Participants select a fictional business brief, plan the site with a sitemap, user flows, and a heading outline, develop three distinct design directions before committing to one, and consolidate that direction into a design system of reusable components. An AI coding tool then builds the site, and participants evaluate and correct it: the phone layout, forms, interface states, a QA pass in DevTools, accessibility review by keyboard, contrast, zoom, and screen reader, and a usability test with a real person.

## What you'll learn

- Evaluate a design using visual hierarchy, typography, color, spacing, and layout
- Plan a site with a sitemap, user flows, and a heading outline
- Maintain consistency across pages with a documented design system
- Address the phone layout, forms, interface states, interface copy, and motion
- Verify accessibility by keyboard, contrast, zoom, and screen reader, and run a usability test
