# AI for Federal Travel and Charge Card Management Course (Self-Paced)

## Overview

This half-day course teaches federal travel and charge card professionals how to use AI as a practical tool for improving travel voucher review, strengthening charge card oversight, and ensuring compliance with the Federal Travel Regulation (FTR). Participants will learn to apply AI to travel authorization analysis, per diem verification, charge card transaction monitoring, and delinquency management — while safeguarding sensitive traveler data and financial information. No prior AI experience is required.

#### Module 1: AI Fundamentals for Travel and Charge Card Professionals

- How AI language models work and their application to travel and charge card management
- Responsible AI use with traveler data, transaction records, and PII
- Protecting sensitive travel information, credit card data, and personal financial details
- Recognizing AI hallucinations in travel regulation and charge card compliance contexts

#### Module 2: AI for Travel Voucher Review and Compliance

- Using AI to analyze travel authorizations and vouchers for FTR compliance
- Per diem rate verification and locality pay adjustment analysis with AI tools
- AI-assisted review of allowable expenses, receipts, and reimbursement calculations
- Researching Federal Travel Regulation updates and GSA Bulletin guidance with AI support

#### Module 3: AI for Charge Card Oversight and Monitoring

- Applying AI to Government Travel Card transaction analysis and anomaly detection
- Using AI for Purchase Card spend analysis and misuse identification
- Delinquency trend analysis and management reporting with AI tools
- OMB Circular A-123 Appendix B compliance monitoring with AI assistance

#### Module 4: Hands-On Workshop

- Participants apply AI tools to realistic travel voucher and charge card scenarios
- Practice prompt engineering for travel compliance and charge card oversight queries

## Instructors

### Steve Pesklo — Instructor

Steve is an energetic trainer who focuses on applying technical concepts to everyday work practices. He is the founder and president of SoftLake Solutions, a company that specializes in providing data and AI applications to identify fraud for Internal Audit, Criminal Investigations, Forensic Accounting, Privacy, and Compliance.

Steve brings a large amount of experience across multiple industries and government agencies. He is an expert in implementing large data analysis projects across the world, including Inland Revenue in the UK and Argentina, New Zealand, Africa and across Europe. Previously, he was the manager of Data Architecture and Data Services for a large mortgage company. He is a frequent speaker on data analytics and project management topics and speaks fluent German. He has been teaching at the Graduate School for over 10 years.

Steve has an M.B.A. from the University of St. Thomas and a B.S. in Computer Science from California Lutheran University and the Universität Salzburg in Austria. He is certified as a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Project Management Professional (PMP), and a Certified ScrumMaster (CSM).
