# Empowering Women: Leadership Essentials (Self-Paced)

## Overview

This course helps participants build the knowledge, confidence, and practical skills needed to lead effectively in government settings. Through four modules, participants examine the role of women in federal leadership, explore common leadership styles such as authentic and transformational leadership, and consider how trust, emotional intelligence, and self-awareness shape leadership success.

Throughout the course, participants explore real-world experiences and challenges women may face in federal leadership roles, while learning about strategies for growth, collaboration, and career advancement. Participants reflect on their own leadership strengths, identify areas for development, and leave with a personalized Leadership Development Plan to support their continued growth as leaders who can foster trust, champion others, and make a meaningful impact in public service.

## Curriculum

#### Module 1: Our Role in Government Leadership

- Define leadership in federal government roles.
- Analyze statistics related to women in federal government leadership.
- Describe current challenges for women in federal government leadership.
- Apply knowledge of leadership to plan for future federal government leadership roles.

#### Module 2: Our Role as Authentic and Transformational Leaders

- Describe the most common leadership styles, including authentic and transformational.
- Analyze how leadership styles relate to women’s success as leaders.
- Identify and analyze one’s own leadership style.

#### Module 3: Our Role as Trust-Builders

- Describe the significance of trust as a leader.
- Analyze one’s strengths and areas of growth in emotional intelligence.
- Discuss the impact of self-awareness as a leader.

#### Module 4: Our Role Moving Forward

- Discuss why women supporting women in the workplace is important.
- Identify ways in which women can support one another in the federal government.
- Assess personal commitment to supporting other women in the workplace.
