Canonical URL: <https://www.graduateschool.edu/courses/federal-hr-information-systems-and-ehri>

## Overview

Federal human resources operations depend on interconnected systems of record, standardized data, and governmentwide reporting requirements. HR professionals need to understand not only how information is entered and maintained, but also how federal workforce data moves between agency systems and repositories such as Enterprise Human Resources Integration, or EHRI.

This course provides a vendor-neutral overview of the federal HR information systems and data environment. You will examine the role of EHRI, the lifecycle of an HR information system, and the practices used to manage, report, retain, and protect HR data. Through practical examples, you will also learn how to interpret system reports, develop effective queries, and recognize the information-security controls that safeguard sensitive personnel records.

This course focuses on the principles and processes shared across federal HR systems rather than the administration of a specific platform.
