## Overview

This computation-focused course builds on Pay Setting: General Schedule and covers the premium pay rules federal compensation specialists apply to varied work schedules and assignments. Participants will calculate night, Sunday, and holiday premium pay and examine the requirements for hazard pay, standby duty premium pay, administratively uncontrollable overtime, and availability pay. The course also addresses employee awards and the biweekly, annual, and aggregate limitations that may restrict otherwise payable compensation.

Through worked examples and practical exercises, participants will learn to recognize common calculation and pay-cap errors, determine their effects, and take corrective action before they become larger payroll or compliance issues.

This course provides only the overtime context needed to apply related premium-pay and limitation rules. Comprehensive FLSA overtime coverage is provided in the FLSA Bootcamp, while recruitment, relocation, and retention incentives are addressed in Pay Setting: General Schedule.
