## Overview

This course equips acquisition professionals and program managers with foundational knowledge of the Defense Acquisition System (DAS) and the systems acquisition management process. Participants explore the structure and governance of the DAS, the six pathways of the Adaptive Acquisition Framework (AAF), and the phases and milestones of the Major Capability Acquisition pathway. The course examines how the requirements, acquisition, and funding processes interact to support effective program execution, with emphasis on applying policy and process knowledge to practical program management scenarios.

Throughout the course, participants engage with applied exercises and case studies covering key acquisition stakeholder roles, acquisition strategy development, program documentation requirements, risk management principles, Test and Evaluation integration, and life-cycle cost analysis. The program prepares participants to understand the decision points, documentation standards, and management responsibilities that define sound acquisition practice within the defense acquisition environment. By the end of the course, participants are ready to contribute effectively to acquisition programs at the foundational level.
