# Microsoft Access for Office 365: Advanced Course

## Overview

You've covered many of the basic functions of Microsoft® Access®, and now you're ready to learn advanced Access features such as database management, advanced form design, packaging a database, encrypting a database, preparing a database for multiple-user access, and more. Knowledge of these features separates database professionals from casual database users or occasional designers.

## What you'll learn

- Share data across applications.
- Use action, unmatched, and duplicate queries for data management.
- Create complex reports and forms.
- Utilize macros for enhanced user interface design.
- Extend database capabilities with VBA.
- Perform essential database management tasks.
- Implement security strategies for multi-user distribution.

## Prerequisites

Students should have prior experience using Microsoft Access, including creating tables, building basic queries, designing forms and reports, and understanding database relationships.

## Curriculum

#### Module 1: Importing and Exporting Table Data

- Import and link data from various sources to your Access database.
- Export data to different file formats for use in other applications.
- Create mail merges using Access data and Microsoft Word integration.

#### Module 2: Using Queries to Manage Data

- Create action queries to modify and manipulate database records.
- Build unmatched and duplicate queries to identify data inconsistencies.

#### Module 3: Creating Complex Reports and Forms

- Design subreports for more detailed data presentation.
- Create navigation forms to enhance user interface and usability.
- Use subforms and popup forms to display related record details.

#### Module 4: Creating Access Macros

- Develop standalone macros to automate repetitive tasks.
- Program UI components using embedded macros.
- Apply conditions to filter records and trigger actions.
- Create data macros to automate back-end data processes.

#### Module 5: Using VBA to Extend Database Capabilities

- Gain a foundational understanding of Visual Basic for Applications (VBA).
- Write VBA code to interact with form controls and automate tasks.

#### Module 6: Managing a Database

- Back up, compact, and repair a database for performance optimization.
- Run performance analysis and resolve common issues.
- Document your database objects for maintainability and audit.

#### Module 7: Distributing and Securing a Database

- Split databases for multi-user environments.
- Implement user-level security and protect sensitive data.
- Convert databases to ACCDE format to protect source code.
- Package databases with digital signatures for trusted distribution.

## Instructors

### Linda Haynes-Jackson — Instructor

Linda Haynes-Jackson has worked as a contractor to the Federal Government and Graduate School for over 35 years. She facilitates a plethora of training classes, which include all levels of Microsoft Applications such as Excel, Power BI, Power Pivot, Access, Outlook, Word, Teams, and PowerPoint. In addition, she offers: Customer Service training and Section 508 Compliant Guidelines. She has delivered instruction to all levels of staff, including those who require special accommodations, and has received numerous training instruction awards. Her doctorate studies in Personnel Administration were at New York University. She has an M.A. from Villanova University and a B.S. from Temple University. She also managed an independent consulting company with clients such as: FBI, Environmental Protection Agency, Secret Service, USDA, Nuclear Regulatory Commission, NIH, Johnson and Johnson, Campbell Soup, and Blue Cross/Blue Shield. She has won numerous awards for training from Fortune 500 companies and federal, state, and local governments. In addition, she has served as an Adjunct Professor at several accredited colleges for many years. Ms. Haynes-Jackson has been noted as a passionate, energetic, and engaging instructor.

### Clarissa J. Corbin — Instructor

Clarissa J. Corbin is an accomplished corporate trainer, project manager, and business consultant with over 25 years of experience designing and delivering impactful learning experiences.
