## Overview

This course provides federal professionals with practical guidance for applying Fair Labor Standards Act provisions related to overtime, travel time, and compensatory time for travel. Participants examine how hours of work are defined under the FLSA, including regular and irregular work, flexible schedules, and circumstances in which employees may be entitled to overtime compensation. The program also explores how travel is treated as hours of work, including distinctions between commuting, regular work travel, and overnight travel under federal regulations. In addition, participants learn the rules governing compensatory time off for travel under the Workforce Flexibility Act and how agencies apply these provisions in practice. By completing this certificate, participants strengthen their ability to interpret FLSA work-hour rules, apply federal travel compensation policies, and ensure consistent and compliant workforce compensation decisions.
