Graduate School USA (GSUSA) has launched the Pacific Advancement for Diplomatic Leadership (PADL) Program, funded by the Bureau of East Asian and Pacific Affairs of the U.S. State Department. The cohort of 17 diplomats from the Freely Associated States (Federated States of Micronesia, Republic of the Marshall Islands, and Republic of Palau) participated in federalism briefing and protocol training sessions. In August, the cohort will learn about digital diplomacy, followed by communications and leadership training in October.
The PADL initiative will strengthen the crucial partnerships between the United States and the Freely Associated States through building diplomatic capacity. In the next three years, through our Washington D.C. and Hawaii offices, GSUSA will provide virtual and in-person training, site visits, and networking opportunities. GSUSA will provide subject matter experts and instructors and will partner with other organizations in order to provide tailored and rich content.
Upon the culmination of this project, participants will have honed leadership and professional communication skills, and will be well-equipped to perform protocol duties, handle multilateral diplomatic efforts, and ultimately advance a shared vision of foreign policy priorities in the Indo-Pacific region.
