ACCUPLACER® Assessment Test

The ACCUPLACER® Assessment Test is designed to assess students in the academic areas of reading, writing and math. Results from the tests will be utilized by academic advisors to determine where students will begin their coursework and to develop educational plans for their academic programs. It is very important that you take this test seriously because students may not take an assessment test in the same subject matter more than once in a four-month period.

Students need to demonstrate a specified proficiency level in reading, writing and mathematics prior to enrolling for any degree programs at the Graduate School. Students pursuing a degree or certificate in the Center for Allied Health will also need to demonstrate proficiency in science and may be required to take a specialized assessment test in this area.

Steps for taking the assessment test:

  1. Submit an application for admission.

  2. Schedule your appointment for assessment testing. Contact the Admissions Office by email at admissions@graduateschool.edu or (202) 314-3643.
  3. Take your assessment test.
    • Bring your government issued photo ID and student identification number (in admittance letter).
    • Allow at least three (3) hours to complete all three sections of the assessment test.

  4. Obtain your results by meeting with your Academic Advisor during your scheduled advising appointment.
If you meet the criteria for exemption from the assessment test, contact the Office of Academic Advising at advising@graduateschool.edu or (202) 314-3651 to schedule an appointment with an academic advisor.
