Continuing Professional Education Credits (CPE)

Graduate School USA is registered with the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) as a sponsor of continuing professional education of the National Registry of CPE sponsors. State boards of accountancy have final authority on the acceptance of individual courses for CPE credit.

Students looking to expand their training and credentialing opportunities should verify which courses are authorized to provide CPE credit by their relevant licensing boards.

Continuing Professional Education Credits (CPE)

Many of Graduate School USA's daytime courses, particularly those in acquisition, auditing, and financial management, offer continuing professional education credit (CPE). These are educational credits that meet general requirements for either subject training or classroom experience for a wide range of professional certifications, accreditations, or qualifications. They represent the necessary hours of study required to earn and update certifications and credentials.

States and many professional organizations have CPE requirements to meet standards, maintain CPA licenses, and professional certification to improve the professional proficiency of the individual and the quality of the financial management and auditing professions. Some of these organizations include the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, individual state boards of accountancy, the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy, the Association of Government Accountants, and the U.S. Government Accountability Office, among many other specialized state and local government offices and private sector employers.

As part of their training, students will earn one (1) CPE credit per 50 minutes spent in a classroom setting, making these courses an ideal way to earn the necessary credits for a variety of credentials. These credits are only available through instructor-led in-person or online courses.

In addition, Graduate School USA has sponsorship agreements with the following state boards of accountancy that recognize us as an approved source for continuing professional education credit for licensing purposes.

Continuing Development Units (CDU)

Graduate School USA is an Endorsed Education Provider of the International Institute of Business Analysis, providing CDUs for business analysis training. This means that many of their courses provide students with credits that can be used to recertify the IIBA business analyst certifications, including data analysis, product ownership, Agile, and cybersecurity certifications.

Defense Acquisition University (DAU)

Graduate School USA is an approved Equivalent Provider of the Defense Acquisition University. The partnership provides a continuum of coursework to support the consistent and continuous development of the Defense Acquisition Workforce's capabilities as they relate to implementing the Defense Acquisition System.

Professional Development Units (PDU)

Many certification programs require applicants to complete a fixed number of professional development units as a part of their requisite training in order to earn or renew their certification. These include organizations like the Project Management Institute, which mandate that students earn professional development units by taking classes or getting practical work experience to demonstrate their proficiency in project management. Many focused Graduate School USA courses provide PDUs for students pursuing these subscriptions, generally at a rate of 1 PDU to 1 hour spent in the classroom.

Continuing Professional Development (CPD)

Continuing professional development is a broad category referring to almost any course or instruction aimed at helping professionals refine or hone their professional skills. Numerous governing bodies, including the American Academy of Financial Management and international organizations like the International Institute of Risk & Safety Management (IIRSM) or the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH), oversee and authorize various CPD courses to ensure that they are providing students with relevant training.

Graduate School USA courses offer CPD opportunities for students in a range of different professional fields, including accounting, human resources, and information technology, and students are encouraged to see what governing bodies offer relevant information pertaining to CPD offerings in their specific field.
