Discover the details of submitting your midterm assignment, from creating the required graphics to capturing and cropping screenshots on a Windows computer. Learn how to use Adobe Illustrator, the symbol sprayer tool, and ensure your work is properly prepared for submission.
Key Insights
- The midterm assignment involves creating the second icon graphic and a text panel using the construction icons from the Adobe Illustrator file. The symbol sprayer tool should also be used for the second icon.
- To correctly submit your work, you need to take a screenshot of your open layers and full artboard image from the properties section. This screenshot should then be uploaded to the portal.
- When taking a screenshot on a Windows computer, make sure to only capture the display of your interface. Crop out any extra displays and adjust the cropping tool to ensure the screenshot is correctly framed before saving a copy.

In this video, we'll be going over our midterm. For your midterm, please create the second icon graphic, as well as a text panel in the middle.
Within your second icon set, please use any of the construction icons found within the other Adobe Illustrator file, *Construction Icons*, and insert that icon at the top in the second section. In addition, create the panel below, complete with text, and utilize the *Symbol Sprayer* for your second icon. When you've finished, please expand the first four layers.
However, we won't need to expand *Guides*. Once you've done this, please go to *Properties*, and with *Properties*, your open layers, and a full image of your artboard, please take a screenshot and upload it to the portal. Let's quickly go over how to take a screenshot.
From a Windows computer, you'll take a screenshot by pressing the *Windows* key and the *Print Screen* key. When you see a quick black flash on your computer screen, you’ll know you've taken a screenshot. On some laptops, you may need to hold the *Function* (FN) key as well.
Once you've done this, you'll find your screenshot in the *Screenshots* folder within your *Pictures* folder. In this case, we'll go to *Pictures* > *Screenshots*. If we double-click, we'll see various screenshots.
Looking at a screenshot, we can double-click to open it, and we'll see that the screenshot may contain two displays. Since we only need the display of our interface, we can crop it. To do this, we’ll use the *Photos* app, select the *Crop Tool*, and with the *Crop Tool*, we can simply drag the right side in.
We'll release there, and make sure that when you're using the *Crop Tool*, you've adjusted both the top and bottom, as well as the left side, since they sometimes squeeze in. We'll adjust the right-hand side, and then click *Save a Copy*. Now, when we close out of our screenshot in *Photos*, we have our finished image.
If we double-click, we can view it. When you finish your midterm, please upload it to the portal. Have fun, and be creative.
I'll see you in our next lesson, where we'll be creating a new project. See you there!
