Populating Sprinklers in Library and Corridor Areas: Level One Reflected Ceiling Plan Walkthrough

Setting up Sprinkler Placement in Library and Corridor Areas with Varied Ceiling Heights

Discover how to populate sprinklers in the library and corridor areas of a level one reflected ceiling plan, including working with varying ceiling heights and different types of sprinklers. Learn key techniques for accurate placement and adjustment, and understand how to go through the process step by step.

Key Insights:

  • The process of populating sprinklers in a reflected ceiling plan begins with identifying different ceiling heights using the annotate tab in spot elevation. This ensures that hosted sprinklers are placed at the correct elevations.
  • Several types of sprinklers are used, including acoustical ceiling tile sprinklers and semi-recessed sprinklers. Placing these involves selecting a sprinkle type, zooming in on the appropriate area, and moving the sprinkler to the correct spot.
  • After sprinklers are initially placed, their positions can be adjusted for accuracy. Techniques for this include typing 'mv' to move the sprinkler, hitting enter to repeat the command, and copying these adjustments over a specified distance.

In this video, we'll be populating our sprinklers in the library and corridor areas of Level One. So in our Level One Reflected Ceiling Plan, let's go to here and we'll start in the library. First thing we should do is we should note that we do have several ceiling heights, so let's use our Annotate tab and Spot Elevation tool.

Go on ahead and turn off the leader and let's just set these heights in each area. You can see we have a soffit area around the library at eight foot eight and the ceiling height of the library is 10 feet. Okay, so now when we confirm our hosted sprinklers, we know that it's at the right elevation.

All right, so let's go to the System tab and Sprinkler and let's choose our Acoustical Ceiling Tile Sprinklers first. We'll go to our half-inch Pendant on the drop. We've got our Semi-Recessed Sprinklers.

Let's start at this intersection. Zoom in. Okay, and we'll move this.

We can type MV. We'll go up one foot, hit ENTER to repeat the command and let's go over one foot. All right, now let's copy these over 14 feet.

That looks good. Before we continue, let's select all the sprinklers, choose Level One at 10 feet, which matches our library ceiling height. Let's go on ahead and finish the ACT Ceiling areas before moving on to the Gyp Board hard-lid ceiling areas.

Now in this case, it looks like I was off. That's okay. We'll go back to this one.

Copy, make sure I'm going straight. 14 feet. Reset to Level One.

Okay, create similar. We'll start up here in the vestibule. We'll go to this intersection.

Okay, in the office. We'll go here and there. The storage room, let's go to here and here.

Same in this storage room. We'll go here and there. In the periodicals room, we'll just have one and go right there.

Now let's go on ahead and select all of these. Hold the Control key. We know we're at the intersection, so all we need to do is move them at the same time.

We will go up one foot and enter, repeat the command, and over one foot. Now we have different ceiling heights, so let's confirm starting in the vestibule. Level One at 10 feet.

Okay, nine feet. These are at nine feet. Okay, now let's work on the corridor and the soffit around the library.
