COMPTROLLER GENERAL GENE DODARO TO BE ON “THE SEARCH FOR ACCOUNTABILITY,” HOSTED BY GSUSA’S MICHAEL BINDER

Gene Dodaro, head of the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO), will be the featured guest on the April 5 broadcast of “The Search for Accountability,” which airs on Federal News Network 1500 am every Monday at 2:00 p.m. EDT and is hosted by Michael Binder, Director of Graduate School USA’s Government Audit Training Institute and Federal Financial Management Programs. The show will be rebroadcast every Monday in April.

In a GAO career spanning more than 45 years, Mr. Dodaro has held a number of key executive posts and also has extensive experience working with state and local government officials. As Comptroller General, Mr. Dodaro helps oversee the development and issuance of hundreds of reports and testimonies each year to various committees and individual members of Congress, and has testified before Congress dozens of times on important national issues, including the nation's response to the coronavirus pandemic, the federal government’s long-term fiscal outlook, efforts to reduce and eliminate overlap and duplication across the federal government, and GAO's "High Risk List" that focuses on specific challenges—from reducing improper payments under Medicare and Medicaid to improving the Pentagon's business practices.

“The Search for Accountability,” a news program produced in a partnership between Graduate School USA and Federal News Network, aims to increase public knowledge and visibility of the federal Offices of the Inspector General (OIG), the Government Accountability Office, and other key oversight officials.  Binder, who is a 43-year veteran in service to the GAO/IG community and a professor since 1975, will discuss with Mr. Dodaro current challenges, opportunities, and successes in promoting government accountability, improvements, and integrity.
